Capacity

The capacity indicates the force the puller can exert. Typically, you can estimate the capacity needed based on the shaft diameter of the part you’re pulling. For manual pullers, the puller’s center bolt diameter should be at least half the shaft diameter. For hydraulic pullers, the required capacity in tons is roughly 0.28 to 0.4 times the shaft diameter in millimeters. Use this guide:

 Reach

This is the distance from the bottom of the puller’s base to the jaw flats. Ensure the reach matches or exceeds the distance on the part you intend to pull.

Spread

The spread measures the distance between the puller jaws. The spread should be greater than the width of the part being pulled to ensure a secure grip.
